e-GEOS, an Italian Space Agency (20%) and Telespazio (80%) company, is a leading international player in the geo-spatial business. e-GEOS offers a whole range of products and services in the Earth Observation and in the geo-spatial application domains, based on both optical and radar satellites as well as on aerial surveys. e-GEOS and its subsidiary GAF/Euromap operate their own data processing services at the Earth Observation Space Centers of Matera, Italy (radar and optical) and Neustrelitz, Germany (optical). Multiple satellites are received and processed in these two hubs, also for near-real-time monitoring (Matera).

COSMO-SkyMed multi-temporal image of Winam Bay, Lake Victoria – invasive water hyacinths

This image demonstrates how multi-temporal SAR imagery from the COSMO-SkyMed (CSK) constellation can be used for monitoring and change detection. The colour image is a composite of three radar images acquired at different dates by different satellites of the constellation:. A colour channel is assigned to each image:
Red: January 8, 2010
Green:January 24, 2010
Blue: November 9, 2010

Grey areas appear where few changes took place between the dates – buildings, roads, infrastructure... Black is water. Colours show changes. In this case the colours show the growth of South American water hyacinths invading the lake and clogging much of the shoreline.
